Today we have news from the island oasis of Sicily.
What’s the best way to punish your 60+ live-at-home deadbeat son? Take away his allowance!
An irate mother took the house keys and allowance away from her 61-year-old son because he did not come home when he was supposed to and did not tell where he was going when he went out.
But he said:
It’s not my fault. She always treats me badly. I’m unemployed and the allowance she gives me isn’t enough. And her cooking is really awful!
Oh no you diinn’t! The last thing you tell a Sicilian woman is that her cooking stinks. Talk about the same old ratty house dress she’s worn everyday for the last 40 years or the faint smell of formaldehyde in the house, but don’t diss mama’s cannolis!
But thanks to the assistance of the local constabulary, a mother and her forlorn son reunite in blissful cohabitation.
A policeman was able to convince the mother and son to reconcile and they returned home together, where the son was given back his keys and allowance.
It almost brings a tear to the eye.

Great post. We’re off to Sicily in abut 6-7 weeks so I’ll ensure to not complain about any food regardless of how it tastes (although I’m sure it’ll be great!).
@Sarah: Have no worries about the food. Great restaurants here are as easy to find as overpriced cups of coffee in Seattle.
